course tutor : ed smart
I am a graphic designer, photographer and writer based on the Isle of Cumbrae - the most easily accessible island off Scotland's western seaboard. Initially trained in forensic photography with lothian and borders police, I changed to graphic design at the beginning of the digital age, studying at glasgow college of printing. I have worked closely with many highly talented people over the past 20 years and feel the best approach is to encourage, rather than dictate! The rest is up to you...
I run these digital arts courses from a creative, inspired point of view rather than a technical one, making them suitable for all adults. I believe that by simply using the software or digital camera - not by note-taking or booklearning - confidence will easily build : the practical project-based approach also means you have a tangible result to take away.
My professional work includes print and online design for utilities, startups, manufacturers and corporates. As part of bigger client briefs, I also storyboard and direct videos, write radio scripts and do a bit of copywriting. Recently I've been working with a UK/Dubai-based interior design client on print projects. View my professional portfolio here
Feel free to contact me with any specific digital arts requests : I look forward to opening a window on your creative potential!
CRBS disclosure certificates are also available for our roster of professional guest tutors in advanced graphic, illustration and online design.
